Language Arts Adjectives
This lesson plan focused on collaboration with other students in my 3rd grade practicum class to learn how to use adjectives in sentences. Students learned what positive and negative adjectives are, and when to use them. I brought in objects for the students to describe using adjectives, then write paragraphs about the objects. With this lesson, I learned the parameters of collaboration that I need to be focus on in my future classroom.

Math Clocks
This lesson was the most differentiated lesson I have taught thus far because of the classroom rotations during the math lesson. The lesson focused on telling time and the rotation I taught was the below proficiency students. I used math manipulatives and clocks to assist their learning. I also used some of my Spanish skills to help the students who spoke Spanish. This lesson taught me how I can use my prior knowledge, in this case the Spanish language, to make instruction understandable for all students.

Social Studies Timeline
During this lesson, I gave students a timeline to complete that describes major events in their lives. The students used the timelines in our writing period to write a paragraph that would let me know a little more about them. For the students who were below proficiency, and spoke Spanish, I assisted them with their spelling and ideas to write. Reflecting on this lesson, I learned about adapting a lesson to where the students are at in their learning.

Language Arts Questioning Stories
This lesson involved a lot of movement and collaboration from the students. They were read a story and had to show their understanding of the main events, characters, and plot. After they finished their worksheets, we came together for a Socratic style discussion as a form of a formative assessment to discuss their understanding and how they could use this in the real world. There are some students who are not able to write and I worked on writing letters with them during their work time. For the worksheet below, the student had a hard time understanding the middle of the story and we focused on the beginning and ending of the story. This lesson taught me that not all forms of assessment work for each lesson, or each grade level.

Language Arts Snow Globe
This lesson was the final lesson I taught during Practicum 1. We had a Christmas party for the students and they had to write things they hoped for during the holidays. They used the previous skills I taught them such as using adjectives, punctuation, and spelling skills in this final lesson. Mrs. Fladeland and I used their paragraphs as a summative assessment for writing. The assessment piece was very informative and helped bring my prior knowledge of summative assessments to reality.
